Dustin Johnson at the PGA

Dustin Johnson lost the PGA because of a rule at Whistling Straights that states all bunkers are hazards.  One interpretation stated that if there was sand, then it was a bunker.

Some Golf Rules make me sick.  It is fine to have rules and to follow rules, but this is ridiculous.  If there are hazards on a golf course, great.  They make the game interesting and players learn how to avoid them.  But if you ask me,  if golf officials at any tournament allow spectators to stand anywhere, then automatically that area can not be considered a hazard.  Dustin Johnson’s mistake is proof positive.

If golf officials had not allowed spectators to spectate from that sandy spot then there would be no question as to what it was.  Maybe, if golf officials allow spectators to stand in certain areas and ruin the appearance of the area, then it is up to them to immediately identify the lie as being in a hazard or not.

A fine golfer loses a tournament because some golf officials are not qualified for the job.

Get In The Hole

Filed under: PGA Tour, Rules and Etiquette — Tags: , — agmccall @ 1:39 pm

It is probably not a breach of golf etiquette to yell “Get in the Hole” when a tour player tee’s it up and lets t rip on a par 3.  But do we have to yell every time Tiger Woods does anything.  I know it dosen’t happen often, but there are times that it is patently obvious that a shot is going everywhere but the fairway, and some dumbass has to yell “Get in the hole”.

I think there is an unspoken contest out there to be the first fan to yell “Get in the Hole’ when Tiger tees it up.  It would not surprise me if when Tiger is having his banana break and he tosses the peel in the trash some spectator is yelling, “Get in the Hole”,  if only in his mind.

I do not really think this blog post serves any purpose other than being a senseless post on the Crosshair Golf Blog.  So, if anybody stumbles upon this post then please yell to me to “Get in the HOLE”

Tiger Woods Ho Hum Start at the Memorial

Tiger Woods broke even for the first round of the Memorial.  A bit boring, but for all the Tiger fans it is good to see him back at it.

It is a bit early to tell, but if he gets his groove back we might be in for some interesting golf this weekend.  With Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk in the top 10, Tiger will have his work cut out for himself.

Justin Rose is in first place at 7 under and there are 69 golfers with in 6 strokes of the lead and 3 more days of golf.

Let’s see what happens on Friday

Will Tiger get the Lions Share

Tiger Woods, 108th in the Fedex standings, will make another return to the PGA Tour this weekend with a 12:44 pm tee time at the Memorial.   Is he ready to take the Lions share again or will he come up lame.

How many times do we hear the golf commentators proclaim, “Tiger is on the prowl” and how many times do we see leaders drop one by one as Tiger stalks silently by.  At the end it is Tiger with the kill, and all the meat he can eat.  What will Tiger do this week?  It is hard to tell.  There are a lot of young cats out there who are very hungry and will not be looking over their shoulder to see if Tiger is “On the Prowl”.

Remember, it’s a jungle out there and only the strong will survive.  In Golf, it is the strength of the mind that will bring you to the kill first.  Tiger Woods has had his eye on Jack’s coveted 18 Major wins.  He has two more chances this year at courses he likes and has been successful at.  But, over the past year, Tiger has fallen and all the young lions sense the weakness, and I would say “They are on the Prowl”.

Tiger does not need to win this tournament, but he needs to send a message.  That message has to be that, I might be down but I am not weak.  He needs to make some heads turn and look over their shoulders.  If he can do that then he will get the Lions Share, and eat well for another week.  If not, he might be fighting Hyenas and Vultures for the scraps.

Tim Clark Wins a Major

Tim Clark finally won on the PGA Tour, and what a win to have, a Major.

This was a big performance considering he is only 5′7″.  He does not have the distance as some of the big hitters on tour, bet he made up for in in accuracy and putting.

Twelve years on the tour with many runner ups and top tens.  In fact, he has amassed a nice nest egg of about 14 million dollars in winnings.  That is  alot of money, not compared to Phil and Tiger, but I wouldn’t refuse it.

Maybe this is the event that will push him to multiple wins and maybe even a green Jacket.

Golf in the Olympics

It was announced that Golf will be in the 2016 Olympics.

According to Golf.com  “The proposed format is four rounds of stroke play, although that could change. There would be a 60-player men’s field and a 60-player women’s field; teams would feature the top two eligible players from each country. That could change.”

I personally think it should be all amateurs, no pro’s at all.  If all we see are the touring PGA Pro’s then all we have is another tournament.  Nothing new, nothing exciting.

What they should do is have the competition Ryder Cup Style. each country has teams of four and they have partner, individual, and team play.  Also, do not just pick the 4 best golfers.  Let the pro’s and amateurs form teams and compete to go to the Olympics.   All teams must have at least one amateur.  Just think about teams of golfers competing for a spot in the Olympics.   Top golfers playing for no money, playing to represent their country.

Is Tiger out of the Woods

Filed under: PGA Tour — Tags: — admin @ 1:51 pm

Well, Tiger Woods apologized to all of us.  What do you think about that?

Personally, I do not think he needed to apologize to me.  What do I care about his personal life.  If anyone needs an apology it is Elin, not me.

First of all, being addicted to sex is a copout.  He is addicted to power, just like all the other folks in his shoes.  Bill Clinton summed it up best when he was asked about his infidelities.  He said “I did it because I could”.  That is all there is to it.   If Tiger Woods happened to be a garbage man, do you think he would have the power and ability to feed a sexual addiction?  The answer is NO.

If Tiger Woods is not humbled by the events of the last month, then he will never change.  I say, Deal with your issues but don’t shuck and jive me with a phony apology you were forced to give to save face for the PGA Tour, and your sponsors.
